Die Soteria Berlin ist eine neue psychiatrische Behandlungseinheit der Psychiatrischen Universitätsklinik der Charité im St. Hedwig Krankenhaus (Berlin-Mitte), die sich an jüngere Patienten mit einer Ersterkrankung aus dem schizophrenen Formenkreis richtet. Das Projekt wurde als interdisziplinäres Projekt von dem Psychiater Dr. Martin Voss und dem Architekten Jason Danziger gemeinsam entwickelt.

The Soteria Berlin is a new psychiatric treatment unit of the Psychiatric University Clinic Charité at St. Hedwig Hospital (Berlin-Mitte), which is aimed at younger patients experiencing their a first schizophrenic episode. The project was developed as an interdisciplinary project jointly by the psychiatrist Dr. Martin Voss and the architect Jason Danziger following the principles of milieu therapy.
Die Behandlung in der Soteria stützt sich u.a. auf die therapeutische Wirkung eines gestalteten Milieus. Das Milieu hat soziale (als “Lebensgruppe,” u.a. ohne hierarchische Trennung zwischen Arzt und Patienten) und räumliche Aspekte, die sich synergetisch ergänzen.
The treatment in the Soteria is based, among other things, on the therapeutic effect of its milieu (environment), with the understanding that this environment has both social (as a nonhierarchical "living community" without hierarchical separation between doctor and patient) and spatial aspects that complement each other synergistically.

Räumlich betrachtet, stellt das Milieu eine Atmosphere her, die durch den Einsatz von diversen “therapeutischen atmosphärischen Mechanismen” charakterisiert ist. Diese Mechanismen wirken phänomenologisch auf die Wahrnehmung der Patienten, wodurch die Behandlungsziele gefördert werden.
The milieu creates an atmosphere that is characterized by the use of various "therapeutic atmospheric mechanisms." These mechanisms activly operate phenomenologically on the perception of the patient to help support the treatment goals of the team.
